Lets Get StartedCOVID-19 Update (March 16, 2020)

Notice to our Valued Clients, Colleagues and Community,
Unprecedented events are happening both in our community and in the world around us and while none of us know what the future will hold, we each need to take appropriate action to mitigate the risks involved. The well-being and safety of the team, clients and community we are surrounded by is very important to us and we are monitoring the situation daily.
Most importantly, we need to be vigilant in following the guidelines set out by health professionals. Here is a link to the Ministry of Health website that has regular updates on the situation (https://www.ontario.ca/page/2019-novel-coronavirus). They continue to recommend regular hand washing or sanitizing of hands, social distancing and self-isolating if and when you start to feel symptoms. It is important to be aware and mindful but not to enter into panic mode.
Currently, the CRA has no plans to extend the income tax deadlines. Canadians have until April 30, 2020, to file their 2019 Income Tax Return. We are ready and available to process tax returns with keeping in mind our options to support social distancing.
Mason Miller will continue to work from our office and will notify you if or when that changes. We are doing our best to ensure our offices are a clean and safe environment for all who enter the space. To help support social distancing we would ask that, wherever possible, you select from one of the following options to deliver your paperwork to us:
- There is a mail slot at our office that is to the left of our door at floor level
- Scan and send non-sensitive paperwork via email
- We also have an online system called Receipt Bank which is a pre-accounting/taxation tool that allows you to share your paperwork and receipts with us electronically by taking a photo with your cell phone. RB allows a private portal and an added level of security. This is something that we set up for you and is very simple to use. Please let us know if you would like to use this as an option and we can assist you with that transition.
- Mail your files to us through Canada Post or another delivery service; ensuring to get a tracking number
We also have questions from some of you concerning EI rules during this time and we will keep you updated as things evolve. We are awaiting confirmation of some proposed changes for additional support and job security during these uncertain times.
As the phone lines are receiving high volume right now, the best way to reach us is via email at info@masonmiller.ca.
